What are YOU doing with solar energy?

How are you using the sun to generate electricity? Are you finding interesting ways to use solar power that you'd like to share with others? Tell us about it!

I have the dream job working in the solar industry. Our company helps people install solar electric systems on their homes and businesses. I have solar on my house and have helped more than 100 people install solar electricity. Solar electricity not only saves people tons of money, but is also helping save the planet one solar electric syste at a time.

My wife and I decided to go solar 2 years ago after learning that the government helps lower system costs with a rebate and tax subsidy. We had heard that solar was costly, but after finding out that our utility was the costliest in the nation (!), and realizing what we would spend on electricity in the long term, solar clearly was a good choice. The system has produced as expected, and I must admit we get quite a thrill at hearing our friends and neighbors whine about electricity rate increases! Our experience has moved 2 of them to get systems of their own. It's really catching on!

My utility has a voluntary program that allows you to pay a slightly higher rate for power generated by the sun. Large solar thermal electricity plants are being implemented across the globe, with several in the California desert.

I feel good knowing that the power I use does not come from finite fossil resources, the use of which is quickly heating our globe.
